Manzanillo Extra Virgin Olive Oil is brand new to The Olive Press and we couldn’t be more excited to share it! These olives are grown, pruned, and cared for by hand in Lodi, California, in a small family orchard. We are passionate about the quality of our fruit and preserving its integrity: Our fruit is never ravaged by petroleum based pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Manzanillo olives are traditionally used as table olives, but this oil will prove to you what a versatile olive Manzanillo really is…the oil is beautiful and luxurious, with a depth best described as deeply herbaceous and a softness that is very close to Sevillano. Manzanillo olives originated in Sevilla, Spain and are now the most abundant olives in the world. They are quite hardy and will grow in almost any climate. The Manzanillo tree takes until its fifth year to bear fruit and is alternate bearing. Although these trees may take some time to grow and bear their fruit, they produce high volumes when they do! This is why the tree has become so popular. When these olives aren’t producing beautiful oils, they are widely known as a fantastic olive to cure, due in large part to their firm texture. They are often used for stuffing, usually with garlic or pimento paste. Our new Manzanillo olive oil is a beautiful example of delicate oil; creamy in taste and texture, this oil boasts slight grassy notes and a soft finish. Enjoy!
