Super Bowl Smashed Potatoes

Salty, crispy, and full of flavor, these bite sized snacks are sure to be a crowd pleaser!


Try with Winter Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil and our Mediterranean Spice Blend or mix it up with Galice Olive Oil and Parmesan or Rosemary Olive Oil and a touch of salt. The possibilities are endless with this perfect party snack!

Made with these products from The Olive Press:

  • 1/2 cup Winter Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 12 to 15 baby red or yellow potatoes (about 1.5-2 in. in diameter)
  • 3 TSP kosher salt
  • Mediterranean Spice Blend (to taste)

  • Boil Potatoes
    1. Put potatoes in a large sauce pan (in one layer) and cover with at least an inch of water and add 2 tsp of kosher salt
    2. Bring water to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook until potatoes are cooked all the way through and tender (about 30 min)
    3. While potatoes are cooking, set up a double layer of dishtowels on countertop. As potatoes finish cooking, remove, let drain and sit for 1-2 minutes on towels
  • Flatten and Cool Potatoes
    1. Using a glass jar or your hand protected by a dishtowel, gently press down on each potato, flattening to a thickness of about 1/2 inch
    2. Cover a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil then a layer of parchment paper
    3. Carefully transfer flattened potatoes to the baking sheet and let cool completely at room temperature
  • Roast Potatoes
    1. Heat oven to 450 degrees
    2. Sprinkle potatoes with salt and Mediterranean Spice Blend on both sides then carefully pour olive oil over seasoned potatoes
    3. Roast potatoes until crispy and brown around the edges, flipping each potato half way though (about 30-40 min)
    4. Serve hot and enjoy!
